Apples, apples, we all scream for apple crisp.

Growing up, family dinners happened at least once a week and were spent with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Dinners always consisted of an appetizer, entree and most importantly dessert.

My grandmother never went a dinner without making all of us some type of treat. One of my favorite dishes of hers is homemade apple crisp.

The smell of the cinnamon and apples in the oven makes the house smell magical. Follow this recipe and you can see for yourself.

Apple Crisp Recipe:

Ingredients:

4 medium apples, sliced (4 cups) --I used 4 granny smith apples.

¾ cup packed brown sugar

½ all-purpose flour

½ cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats

⅓ cup butter, softened

¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¾ teaspoon ground nutmeg, if desired

Add ice cream to final dish, if desired.

Directions:

1. Heat oven to 375F. Grease bottom and sides of 8-inch square pan with shortening.

2. Spread apples in pan. In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients until well mixed, sprinkle over apples.

3. Bake about 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork.

4. Lastly, serve warm with ice cream.

Feel free to change the recipe to your likings.

Thank you to Betty Crocker for this tasty and #naughty recipe.
