We all love to indulge in a good cocktail on the weekend. But they are sugar packed, and more often than not, you are drinking way more calories than you even realize.
It might be okay if you’re sticking with just one drink, but more often than not that’s not the case. Here are some healthier versions of your favorite weekend beverages.
Margarita

2 oz. tequila (I recommend Sauza 901)
1 part fresh lime juice
½ oz agave nectar
Shake ingredients together and serve over ice. Only three ingredients, much less sugar than the typical margarita, and no salt rim make this way healthier for you.
Cranberry Vodka Tonic

Dash of no sugar added cranberry juice
6 oz. tonic water
2 oz. vodka
Served with tonic water, this drink has much less calories than the typical vodka cranberry. Add a lime for some extra flavor.
Wine

A glass of merlot comes in at only 90 calories a glass, opposed to a sweet white, like Moscato, which has a hefty 177 calories – almost double.
Beer

The lowest carb beer is Michelob Ultra, at only 95 calories. A huge change from the darker beers, like Sam Adams Lager that carry a whopping 195 calories.
It’s great to treat yourself to a weekend beverage, but if you can pick the lower calorie version, why wouldn’t you.
